Winifred Horan comes to Peaks Island’s New Brackett Church on June 17th at 8pm as part of the Peaks Island House Concert Series with her new venture, the Winifred Horan Quartet. She’s a founding member of the Irish group Solas and a lifelong musician. Horan also teaches at the New England Conservatory of Music. In this conversation, we talk about her musical roots, her deep appreciation for her dad’s role in her musical and cultural life, and why genres are too limiting for music. You may be surprised by a band she’s really into!

The conversation really drove home how important engaged and inspired parenting is – her tribute to her dad is very moving. I was also really impressed, and think we can all learn from, her dedication to music and what she set out to accomplish with art.
